Norma Jean is one of those bands everyone says you must see perform live at least once. I had heard this for years, but for whatever reason, I was never in the right place at the right time to make it happen. So when I was given the opportunity to shoot their recent show at Ziggy's by the Sea in Wilmington, NC it was a no brainer. To me, the only thing better than seeing one of your favorite bands perform live is having the opportunity to photograph it. And the only thing better than that is hanging out with them backstage drinking beer prior to the show...thanks to my friends in opening band Lifecurse. Hey, occasionally music photography does have it's perks!
Here are a few of my favorite images from the show:
In addition to the almighty Norma Jean, I was also treated to openers Lifecurse and Spoken. It was the first time I had ever seen Spoken, and they commanded the stage with their unique combination of classic hair flying headbanging and the the circus like theatrics of frontman Matt Baird.
And last but not least were NC's very own Lifecurse. This was the third time I had shot them in the past year, and somehow they just continue to get better and better. Their high energy on stage is contagious, and they never disappoint.
